On Sunday the 13th of July we visited this cave which
showed massive potential and discovered a possible route onward. This
coming Sunday (the 12TH of October) we will be returning to Stink Hole
Cave (don't worry the name sounds worse than it is). This trip is open
to visitors.(There will be a joining fee of R150 to non members to cover
rope costs.)
There is a short abseil into the cave, which makes it ideal for those who are not yet SRT proficient to "learn the ropes".
Meet us at 8:30 at the corner of the N12 and the R28, which is close to
Westonaria. There wil be a braai afterwords, so bring chairs and food
etc.
If you are planning on joining on the trip, phone Rick on.
Also please inform him what equipment you will need for the event.

September Caving Trip
Hi All
Next Sunday, 14th September, John Dickie will be leading a trip to Hidden Cave. This one has a tight squeezy entrance, a cramped rope-ladder descent, scary open and exposed climbs descending 70 metres to the unique forms of the ‘Waikiki Dancers’ – all the great things about caving! For those who have not been to this cave before it will be a very special experience. And it you have been before take time to check out all the hidden holes in the bottom section and, if you are skinny and brave, maybe ‘Squeezeball Extension’ and other tight squeezes below the ladder climb.

Surveying
By Steven Tucker 20 July 2014
If there is something that I am grateful for, it’s the hard work done in the past by cavers in surveying, especially caves like Apocalypse, Wonderfontein, Crystal, Chaos, West Driefontein, Cango, Arnhem, Thabazimbi, Sterkfontein and Bats, ten of the longest caves in Southern Africa. Between the aforementioned there is conservatively sixty five kilometers of surveyed passages. The amount of work put into those is phenomenal.

New Website Release
By André Doussy 16 July 2014
After several months of discussing possible domain names for the SEC website, we are proud to release our long awaited new website. Not only does this new website provide a lot more detailed information about our club, it also has a new fresh look.
