The Speleological Exploration Club would like to invite you to a cave rescue weekend on the 21 st and 22nd of March at Hoogland Health Hydro, west of Pretoria.
SEC has held a number of cave rescue weekends in the past and would like to involve other
organizations to foster better intergroup rescue skills if these are ever required.
The following topics will be covered on the weekend:
• Rescue equipment
• Patient packaging
• Non-technical cave rescue
• Rope rigging for rescue
• Organizing a rescue
• A mock callout for a cave rescue
Camping facilities with ablutions are available at Hoogland, and have been kindly offered to us free of charge. For those who do not want to camp, other accommodation is available, but you will need to book this yourself:

Wonderfontein - 12 January
This Sunday's club trip is to Wonderfontein.
Meet 9am at garage on R500 just north of Carltonville (opp silos).
Bring flotation devices (pool noodles) as swimming is involved.
High clearance vehicle needed to get to cave or catch a lift at the garage.
Suitable for visitors.
We will be caving for 2 - 3 and will braai afterwards

A trip is done once a month, on the second Sunday of the month. Extra trips are done on an ad-hoc basis and a few long-weekend trips to other provinces and countries are also organized throughout the year.

SEC AGM 26th of October
Hello everyone,
The SEC AGM will be held on the 26th of October at John & Selena's house.
64 Patton Place, Tedderfield, Johannesburg
From 12:00, there will be rescue related activities and training. Bring helmets and SRT kit.
The AGM will start at 15:00. If you cannot make it, please complete a proxy form and send it back to me or hand it to any committee member.

SEC June Caving trip - Bolts Cave
We are visiting Bolts cave this month.
rumour has it that there is a fairly difficult climb down.
so visitors welcome, but maybe not first time visitors, unless you are very confident of your climbing abilities and you can convince me of it.
or if you dont like scary climbs, maybe give this one a skip.
No braai afterwards, but we might pop in at Bushwackers afterwards.
Limited numbers allowed.
Let me know if you want to join, and I will let you know the time and place where we are meeting,
so we wont get any surprise cavers rocking up.
