SEC Chimanimani Expedition, 6 - 24 August 2016

Hello SEC Members
We are planning an international joint expedition to Chimanimani in eastern Zimbabwe.  The aim is to descend the deepest caves in southern Africa and explore other deep caves in the area.  The trip involves a two-day drive to Chim village followed by a two-day hike to the caves.

Costs are shared travel costs, one or two cars (still to be determined), Park fees at 10 USD per person per day, 12 days;  shared Ranger costs of 25 USD per ranger per day (3 rangers);  shared porter costs of 25 USD per one way trip.  We will need to take own food for the 12 days, water is available from a river.  So also tents, sleeping bags, several overalls, it is cold and wet in the caves;  August is generally cold especially at night.

Personal gear is SRT harness etc.  Group gear will be ropes, drills, anchors, solar charges for batteries (most of these still to be purchased/borrowed/hired).

Requirements SRT proficient members only.  Space is limited.  RSVP John Dickie 073 985 8068.
