Just like many others after our regular caving trips, I always look forward to the braai. There you see muddy and exhausted cavers enjoying a good drink savouring a delicious meal and often reminiscing of trips gone by. After spending a lot of time in these moments you often hear

The Wonder of Wonderfontein
By Veronica Van Der Schyff 23 April 2014
A note to all aspiring cavers who have not yet ventured with SEC: Anything said on Facebook is an understatement! After my visit to Yom Tov cave, I thought I will be more or less familiar with water caves. At least this time they were honest about swimming.

Climbers Cave
By Steven Tucker - 18 February 2014
Thanks to Gerrie and Andre re-establishing contact with the owners of Climber's Cave both SEC and PPH were able to visit the cave early in February. This was probably the first time that the cave had been visited in almost 10 years!

YomTov Cave
By Veronica Van Der Schyff - 20 January 2014
Note to self: When someone in SEC says the words “be prepared to get wet”, they do not mean expect a few knee deep puddles along the way. “Wet” means swim! Especially for a vertically challenged person such as myself, this was a very daunting experience at first. Not to mention, this was my second outing with SEC and I am still getting used to the standard of adventure.

Failed attemt to visit New Cave
By André Doussy 11 January 2014
A wise man once said “if the plan doesn't work, change the plan but never the goal”. The goal was to go caving, and that’s exactly what we did. The initial plan was to visit New Cave, also known as Shit Pit, Hades Cave, Quarry Cave or Wonderfontein III, but a failed attempt to try and find one of the entrances lead us to rather visit Wonderfontein.

By André Doussy 12 December 2013
On 8 December 2013 a large team of cavers were assembled at the entrance to the cave at about 08h30: Steven Tucker, Dave Ingold, Irene Kruger, Allen Herweg, Rick Hunter, Zoë Rosen, Sam Gibson, Veronica van der Schyff, Ashley Kruger, Pete Kenyon, Esti Van Der Westhuizen and myself. There were also three others whose names I don't recall.
